The main reason I joined Paraclete was because of a personal need to care for my brother. As my parents have gotten older, I looked down the road and thought, what are the odds that in the next 5 or 10 years I’m going to need to step in to help care for him?
Previously working for a different organization, I provide pastoral care and leadership development in Mexico. I dream of being able to start a seminary and pastoral training program in different cities throughout Latin America. For example, there’s this 28-year-old pastor in charge of church, and he’s thrown into a pandemic with a baby church. He’s been preaching week after week, taking care of his dad in the hospital and he lost his other job. I really want to be there to help him through that.
How can we get in a better position to deal with my family needs and still minister well? Paraclete allows missionaries be based out of the U.S. to work abroad. When the time comes for me to go and take care of my brother, there’s someone that can help me design a ministry from the U.S. Having that bridge is really important.
