Pete & Lori Johnson
Pete and Lori met in high school as members of Young Life. They’ve been sweet-hearts for 45 years and married for the last 39 years.
Pete, an ordained minister, served on the Young Life staff for 33 years. His first posting in 1987 was as Area Director in Norman, OK. He advanced from there to the Houston, TX, Area Director role. After that, he became the Metro Director for San Antonio, TX. Next, Young Life promoted him to the South Texas Regional Directorship. He served in that position for 18 years. From there, he was asked to join the Divisional team that led an initiative for Targeted Cities in the south-central USA. He retired from Young Life and served as an ECO Presbyterian pastor until December 2024.
Lori supported Pete’s formal roles by volunteering as a leader on Young Life Committees. She also mentored staff spouses while also filling various church roles. She is a licensed Davis Facilitator and owns her own business, The Dyslexia Solution. Lori earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology with honors from Shreiner University. She then received a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. She is also a licensed counseling associate.
Based in Boerne, TX, Pete and Lori are entering their next season of life and ministry. They are completing a two-year program together in Spiritual Direction. Their focus is one-on-one soul care with individuals who seek spiritual support.
They have three adult children, two of whom live nearby. God has blessed them with a three-year-old grandson and a set of twins due in the summer of 2025.
In their limited spare time, Pete enjoys travel, motorcycles, skiing, hiking, birdwatching, and mountains. He says, “I love staring at landscapes in contemplation and conversation with God.” Lori likes travel, reading, podcasts, writing, art, cooking and, hiking. She says, “I like deep conversations with friends.”
