Rosalyn Otto
Combining decades of cross-cultural experience with empathy and a desire to listen well to the Spirit and to the person in front of her, Rosalyn savors opportunities to walk life with others. Whether for a few days of personal debriefing, meeting regularly for soul care, facilitating a group debriefing, encouraging teams on the field, or offering rest and refreshment to weary workers in her home’s MeadowHaven apartment, she considers it a sacred privilege to use her twin passions of missionary debriefing and soul care/spiritual direction to come alongside cross-cultural workers.
Rosalyn was born in the Philippines and relished growing up there as an MK/TCK. She served as an adult in Uganda and Taiwan—first as a single, and then as a young mom—and deepened her love of other cultures and the challenges of cross-cultural life. Building on her lifelong experience with missions, Rosalyn completed her initial debrief training at CODAR (Consultation On Debriefing And Renewal) offered by Mission Training International. She has served as an adjunct adult debriefing facilitator ever since. More recently, she received additional training in debriefing through Le Rucher and completed a two-year journey with the Soul Care Institute, earning a Certificate in Soul Care.
Walking with her husband through his eleven-year battle with depression has given Rosalyn a deep sensitivity to those struggling with mental illness, worn bodies, wounded hearts, and weary souls. Losing him a few years ago has further propelled her on a grief journey resulting in a richer knowing of God and of herself. It also has fostered in her a fierce desire to encourage and equip others toward hope and flourishing. Her experiences cause Rosalyn to be grateful for the sweetness and beauty in life. She especially enjoys the friendships with her three adult children and their spouses. Her favorite role is getting to be “Nana Rose” to her grandkids.
