Bob Mackey
Bob earned a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1990. Three years later, he and his wife, Laura, began missionary service in Moscow, Russia. Since then, Bob has gained extensive experience leading, training, and preparing hundreds of cross-cultural missionaries for several agencies. He has ministered to servant leaders in Cambodia, Cuba, Ecuador, France, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Spain, Thailand, and many other countries—32 in all.
Bob and Laura’s current ministry vision is two-fold. From their base in Knoxville, TN, they will first pursue, befriend, serve, and bless those who are far from home and far from God in hopes that they will find home—here and in eternity. Second, they are passionate about training and equipping God’s people for works of service. This involves teaching the Bible in a way that brings God’s redemptive purposes to light, as well as coaching and training people toward ministering out of the rich truth of the gospel.
Bob was part of the team that published a church planter training manual entitled Omega Course, which has been translated into over 20 languages and used in over 50 countries. He also hosts a cross-cultural training blog that can be found at culture-navigator.blog
Bob and Laura have been married for 33 years. They have two grown children and two beautiful granddaughters. Bob also enjoys hiking, camping, running, staying fit, and being outdoors in general.
